Michael Thomas – Consultant

About Us - Michael Thomas, Consultant for TBR StrategiesMike is a retired military veteran with over 25 years of experience in maintenance supervision and leadership. As a practitioner, he started his career as a mechanic. That role enabled him to accumulate an extensive knowledge of equipment and components. These included among others: brake systems, hydraulic systems, major power train components and electrical troubleshooting.

Serving as a Senior Noncommissioned officer, he managed large fleets and specialized in organizational maintenance of equipment and personnel. His vast knowledge has been applied to military organizations spanning more than six countries where he has held numerous leadership positions in the maintenance field. Mike’s role was to ensure and maximize Equipment Readiness in support of combat and non-combat missions in primarily mission critical scenarios. A results-driven mindset enabled him to further hone his extensive expertise in maintenance supervision, inventory control techniques, and leadership training.

Several combat tours tested equipment under the harshest and most grueling use scenarios and environments. Each of these provided a unique learning environment for developing proven maintenance protocols. Fleet responsibilities ranged from on-road to off-road fleets with both wheeled and tracked vehicles. As an instructor toward the end of his military career, he developed training materials, procedures and support documentation to educate and train new enlistees in fleet maintenance.

Overall, he has extensive training derived from his 23-year experience with the US Army that includes Defense Utilization Techniques, Advanced Non-commissioned Officer Leadership Course, Basic Instructor Training, Equal Opportunities Leadership Course, Platoon Sergeant Course and Maintenance Supervisor Course.

Post-military Expertise and Awards

After retiring from the US Army, Mike served as a maintenance manager for an international transportation organization that served multiple locations in the United States and England. He led an extensive project to replace their computer maintenance management system (CMMS), as well as managing the transition of consolidating three information management systems into one.

While his experience and knowledge has brought numerous awards, Mike is most proud of being a recipient of the Meritorious Unit Commendation. This prestigious honor is awarded to military units that display exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding service, heroic deeds, or valorous actions.

In addition, he has also received a Meritorious Service Medal (MSM) presented to members of the United States Armed Forces who distinguished themselves by outstanding meritorious achievement or service. Mike also holds a bachelor of arts in organizational management from Ashford University.
